silent screamingNOVEMBER.

From the stillness of November, I long to break free

A cloying scent claws at me

And begs me to be

More than the eye can see.

November urges me, to, throw off my duvet

And embrace the cold

November begs me to "subvert expectations"

And not do what I'm told

November night pinches a poem out of me

Who do I dance for in

This tutu and crown?

I scatter glitter all around

I spin me dizzy like a clown

The farmers turn their heads down

Thin skin, straw on a scarecrow

Every downturned  head

Every unreturned smile

Every uttered demise

The world closes in on

Dry November
